The province of British Columbia is an incredible outdoor playground that continues to amaze me every time I head outdoors. Take Me To The River is a collection of my favorite places and adventures that I hope you, too, are able to experience.
I’ve tried to keep the site as functional as possible, with advice, photos and resources to help you plan your trips. I hope you enjoy BC as much as I have. Stay safe & go explore!

History of Take Me To The River
This is now the 4th iteration of TakeMeToTheRiver.ca. When I arrived in British Columbia in 2016, I immediately began saving my favorite places as pins on a Google Map. From there, as I continued to grow my collection of photos and knowledge of BC, guests would often ask me for advice. To make sure I could pass on the best version of my advice each time, I started to piece together a basic website. After many hundreds of hours of work through the rainy autumn months each year, we have the current iteration, which hopefully works and functions as a useful travel resource.
What Inspired the Logo?
The logo was inspired by the orange trail markers so common on the trails of British Columbia. I wanted to incorporate the mountains, and obviously a river, in the logo. I’m certainly no designer, but after a bunch of hours in Powerpoint of all things, I came up with something respectable (I hope!).
About Me
I’m original from the UK. I moved to British Columbia in 2016 in search of a little adventure and to expand my horizons. BC has truly been an adventure in every sense of the word. As an immigrant without residency, you have a sense of needing to make the most of the place you’re in, and so, for the last 7 years I’ve done just that.
Since getting my Canadian Citizenship, the buzz for exploring hasn’t diminished. You’ll find me in the mountains as often as possible, or out on the water, kayaking in seach of whales.
Website & Affiliate Links
Since the first iteration of the website was born, I wanted the focus to be on photography. I’m certainly not a professional photographer, but I hoped that the website could atleast showcase the beauty of BC in the best way possible. I never wanted to cover the site in Google Ads, or to be frank, anything encouraging people to buy random stuff.
More recently, in an effort to help me pay for the tools, time and resources to maintain the site, you may have noticed a few affiliate links around the site. If you click on these and make a purchase, I may make a small commission, but it won’t cost you any more. I would love for this to become a full time adventure, and so these small contributions help me pay for the hundreds of hours invested.
Please know that I will only promote products that I believe are genuinely useful for your adventures, that I can reliably attest to their quality, and where possible that I have tested myself. I will always promote thrifting, second hand gear (my friends will attest to me keeping my gear far longer than I really should!) , car pooling and anything that is more sustainable and helps to keep our environment pristine. However, if purchasing a piece of gear is necessary, I want to make sure you have the best advice at hand.
