This trail makes a great short stop along the sunshine coast. I took my parents here in 2023; we walked to the lighthouse and back and sat for a while to take in the views out over the Salish Sea. Crazy good views for minimal effort.

The trail: Well-signed, marked or frequent on trail maps. Always carry a map. Phone signal in BC is not reliable when hiking. Always carry an OFFLINE map. I recommend and use AllTrails+ and Gaia Maps.
Hike Difficulty And Conditions
The trail is uneven and rocky in places, with the odd root to step over. Once you reach the coastline, most of the trail traverses along a tall rocky embankment. I wouldn't describe it as exposed, but I would keep dogs and children close.

Getting There

Francis Point can be access from the side roads near Madeira Park and Pender Harbour. Take Francis Peninsula Road and follow it until you see signs for Francis Point. You'll briefly take Merrill Road before parking at the trailhead. Unfortunately public transport to this location is not possible.
